Job Hadley 
Job was born on February 9th, 1816 in Iredel Co., North Carolina.1 Job's father was Joshua Hadley and his mother was Rebekah Hinshaw. His paternal grandparents were Joshua Hadley and Ruth Lindley; his maternal grandparents were Thomas Hinshaw and Rebecca Marshill. He had five brothers and five sisters, named Zeno, Nathan, Milton, Mordecia, Addison, Mary, Susannah, Asenath, Ruth and Esther. He was the fourth oldest of the eleven children. He died at the age of 79 on June 27th, 1895.1 General Notes
HADLEY, JOB, P.O. Lizton; Farmer, Sec. 15; born in Chatham Co., N.C., 2 9, 1816; son
of Joshua Hadley and Rebecca Hinshaw. Married 9, 22, 1841, to Hannah Draper, who
died 12 20, 1844. Married again 2 19, 1846, in Ohio, to Miss T. Burgess. Four children-
-Silas, died 3 14, 1844, aged 6 months and 4 days; Martha, Ezra and Cyrus, all died in
infancy, from 6 weeks to 9 months old; he came to this county in 1839 and followed
teaching and surveying, afterward settling upon some land in the timber; has been elected
County Surveyor two terms, and has original copies of surveys all through the township;
has a farm of 292 acres, which he has thoroughly drained; was the first person to teach a
colored school west of the mountains.
