Patience Brown 
Patience was born on May 25th, 1712 in Nottingham,Chester Co., Pa.1 Patience's father was Jeremiah Browne and her mother was Mary Riall Royale. Her paternal grandparents were James Brown and Honor Clayton; her maternal grandparents were William Riall and Mary Redman. She had three brothers and a sister, named Jeremiah, Joshua, Isaac and Mary. She died at the age of 70 on May 23rd, 1783 in Chatham County, North Carolina. She was buried in December 1783 in Buried in Cane Creek Cemetery.1 1 -

Patience and Joshua were married in a religious ceremony in 1735 in Pa or de.2 They had five sons and six daughters, named Thomas, Jeremiah (Joshua), Joshua, Joseph, Simon, Mary, Ruth, Deborah, Catharine, Lydia and Hannah.

The second marriage of JOSHUA HADLEY was performed by a priest, which was contrary to the principals of the Society of Friends (Quakers), and he and his 2nd wife, PATIENCE (BROWN) HADLEY, were accordingly disowned by that Society. His wife, PATIENCE, regained her membership by making acknowledgment to the Society, and received a certificate to the New Garden, where she produced it on May 30, 1737.
JOSHUA and PATIENCE (BROWN) HADLEY lived in Orange and Chatham Counties, North Carolina, and founded the township of Hadley in Chatham County, NC.
JOSHUA HADLEY died in the Fall of 1760, and is buried in the burial grounds of the Spring North Carolina Monthly Meeting of the Society of Friends in Alamance County, North Carolina.
Many of JOSHUA HADLEY'S children left the Society of Friends by participating in the Revolutionary War.

Jeremiah (Joshua) Hadley
Jeremiah (Joshua) was born on May 23rd, 1743 in New Castle,Lawrence,Pennsylvania,(Now Delaware).1 He died at the age of 43 on November 3rd, 1786 in Near Snow Camp,Orange,North Carolina. He was buried in Spring Mm Cemetery,Orange,North Carolina.1
