Her paternal grandfather is Warner Shannon and her paternal grandmother was Nancy Ellen Endicott. She had five brothers and three sisters, named Rollie Robert, Willie Warner, Raymond LaVerne, Byron Wilford, Myron Milford, Ruby Pearl, Tessie Isolene and Florence Dorothy.
