Merle Claire was born on November 7th, 1899 in Richland Co., Wisconsin.1 Merle Claire's father was William Alexander Shannon and her mother is Alice Agnes Markley. Her paternal grandfather is Warner Shannon and her paternal grandmother was Nancy Ellen Endicott. She had three brothers and three sisters, named Orville Gillette, Alvin Earnest, Eldon Emmer, Della Myrtle, Joyce Agnes and Alice Marie. She was the second youngest of the seven children. She had five half-brothers and four half-sisters, named Rollie Robert, Willie Warner, Raymond LaVerne, Byron Wilford, Myron Milford, Sarah Ellen, Ruby Pearl, Tessie Isolene and Florence Dorothy. She died at the age of 95 on July 4th, 1995 in Richland Co., Wisconsin. She was buried in Basswood Cemetery, Richland Co., Wisconsin.1 1 General Notes
