Sarah Ann was born on June 11th, 1852 in Round Top , Fayette Co., Texas.1 Sarah Ann's father was Benjamin S. Purcell and her mother was Mary Smalley. Her paternal grandparents were Samuel Purcell and Ann Brewer; her maternal grandparents were Benjamin F. Smalley and Mary Liggett. She had seven brothers and two sisters, named Benjamin, Samuel Bruer, Aaron L., Peter Reisinger, Daniel Elisah, Calvin, Noah, Rachel Marie and Rebecca. She had four half-brothers and a half-sister, named William Charles, Corneilus, Charles McLain, M. I. and Elizabeth. She died at the age of 80 on April 17th, 1933 in Gilmer Upshur Co.
