Josiah Sylvester was born on December 24th, 1827 in Princeton, Jackson Co., Alabama.1 Josiah Sylvester's father was Alva Anderson Lamb and his mother was Sarah Jane Graham. His maternal grandparents were John Graham and Mary Emmaline Pennington. He had two brothers and seven sisters, named John Isbell, James K. Polk, Sarah Ann Emaline, Mary Ann, Maria Elizabeth, Jane, Malinda Lucinda, Nancy Vinetta and Harriet Clarica. He was the second oldest of the ten children. He died at the age of 69 on February 18th, 1897 in Oakmound, Ozark Co., Missouri. He was buried in Fullbright Cemetery, Lebanon, LaClede Co., Missouri.1 1 General Notes
