Rachael was born on May 7th, 1771 in Culpeper Co., Virginia.1 Rachael's father was John,3rd Grigsby and her mother was Elizabeth Porter. Her paternal grandparents were John,Jr. Grigsby and Jane Redmond; her maternal grandfather was Benjamin Porter and her maternal grandmother is Mary Ann Campbell. She had three brothers and five sisters, named Joseph, Elisha, Reuben, Ann, Jane, Martha, Elizabeth and Frances. She had twelve half-brothers and three half-sisters, named James, John,4th, Charles, William, Louis, Calvin, Charles, Mondaner, Newton, James, Wilkerson, William, Susanna, Lettitia and Sarah Mildred. She died at the age of 69 on January 7th, 1841.1 General Notes
