Luther Herman was born on March 14th, 1913 in LaRue Co., Kentucky.1 Luther Herman's father was John William DeSpain and his mother was Melissa J. Morgan. His paternal grandparents were William Perry DeSpain and Mary Elizabeth Warren. He had seven brothers and two sisters, named Ernest Franklin, John William Thomas, Alfred Harrison, Alvin, Samuel, Lee, Henry George, Mattie L. and Elizabeth Ellen. He was the youngest of the ten children. He died at the age of 71 on September 17th, 1984 in Kentucky. He was buried in Pleasant Valley Baptist Church Cemetery, Green Co., Kentucky.1 1 General Notes
