Ernest Franklin was born on September 21st, 1892 in Green Co., Kentucky.1 Ernest Franklin's father was John William DeSpain and his mother was Melissa J. Morgan. His paternal grandparents were William Perry DeSpain and Mary Elizabeth Warren. He had seven brothers and two sisters, named John William Thomas, Alfred Harrison, Alvin, Samuel, Lee, Henry George, Luther Herman, Mattie L. and Elizabeth Ellen. He was the second oldest of the ten children. He died at the age of 94 on April 30th, 1987 in Mt. Sherman, LaRue Co., Kentucky. He was buried in Jones Cemetery, Green Co., Kentucky.1 1 General Notes
