Her maternal grandparents were Caleb Sewell Means and Docia Emeline Norris. She has five brothers and five sisters, named Paul Grissom, Clarence, James Haskell (Hack), Kent Byrn, William Russell, Evelyn Docia, Mary Aline, Gladys Grace, Faye and Raye.
