George Verner was born on May 29th, 1882 in Alabama.1 George Verner's father was George Washington Basham and his mother was Julia A. Verner. His paternal grandparents were Jonathan Basham and Elizabeth Hogan. He had a brother and a sister, named William Robert (Rob) and Florence Clemmie. He was the youngest of the three children.
