Emazella was born about 1836 in Mercer Co., Virginia.1 Emazella's father was John Wise Council Walker and her mother was Nancy D. Bailey. Her paternal grandparents were Chrispianos H. Walker and Frances Simms Peters; her maternal grandparents were George C. Bailey and Frances Thompson. She had nine brothers and two sisters, named George C., Chrispianos, Thompson Lawson, Burrell W., Council K., Gaston, Ira W., James Buchanan, Charles Willie Jasper, Mercena F. and Amanda J.. She is the oldest of the twelve children. She had a half-brother named Phillip Aden.-
