James was born on February 10th, 1784 in Chatham , North Carolina.1 James' father was William Kendrick and his mother was Elizabeth Ann Thompson. His maternal grandparents were William Thompson and Hannah Bell. He had three brothers and three sisters, named Benjamin I., Kenyon Thompson, Isham, Susan, Rebecca and Sarah Elizabeth. He was the second oldest of the seven children. He died at the age of 61 in 1845 in Washington Co., Georgia.1 General Notes
