Jonathan Simms was born in 1823 in Mercer Co, Virginia.1 Jonathan Simms' father was George C. Bailey and his mother was Frances Thompson. His paternal grandparents were John Payton Bailey and Nancy W. Davidson. He had six brothers and five sisters, named Burrell B., John W., Thompson P., George Davidson, Council Walker, Matthew Alexander, Nancy D., Charlotte Temple, Rebecca Jane, Elizabeth and Catherine Telia. He was the fifth oldest of the twelve children. He died at the age of 41 on November 7th, 1864 in Lookout, Virginia.1 -
