William Jasper Herring

William Jasper was born on February 25th, 1855 in , Washington, IL.  William Jasper's father is Daniel Washington Herring and his mother was Helen Ellender Sevier.  His paternal grandparents are Peyton Herring and Mary 'Polly' Evans; his maternal grandparents were John Sevier and Anna Friend. He had five brothers and five sisters, named Jesse L, George Washington, John Wesley, Alexander, Egell Elvin, Martha Ann, Frances Marion, Elisabeth Jane, Mary Etta and Amelia Nora.  He is the fourth youngest of the eleven children.
