William Carroll was born on December 6th, 1843 in Cannon, TN. William Carroll's father was John Porter Gannon and his mother was Elizabeth Hayes. His paternal grandparents were George Gannon and Joanna Whitt. He had three brothers and four sisters, named Alfred J., John Quincy, James Beacham, Martha Ann, Joanna, Frances T. and Mary Jane. He was the third oldest of the eight children. He had two half-brothers, and also a half-sibling of unknown gender named Isaac, Samuel L. and Baby. He died at the age of 63 on February 22nd, 1907 in Dyer, TN.General Notes
