His paternal grandparents were Perry Gannon and Esther Andrew; his maternal grandparents were Matthew Greer and Mary UNKNOWN. He had three brothers and three sisters, named James Greer, William, Jr., Thomas C., Rebecca, Esther and Nancy Ann. He was the third youngest of the seven children. He had a half-sister named Nancy Jane. He died after 1880 in Guilford, NC.General Notes
