Joseph Shoaf 
Joseph was born on April 9th, 1809 in ,Hardy, Virginia.1 Joseph's father was John Shoaf and his mother was Rachel Elizabeth Plum. His paternal grandfather was John Shofe; his maternal grandparents were John Plum and Rachel Temple. He had four brothers and six sisters, named Abraham, Jacob, John, Henry, Katherine, Rachael, Nancy, Catherine, Elizabeth and Mary (Polly). He was the fourth youngest of the eleven children. He died at the age of 26 on April 29th, 1835 in ,Franklin, Ohio. He was buried in Landes Cem., Hamilton Twp., Franklin, Ohio.1 1 General Notes
