William Alphonso Thigpen 
William Alphonso was born on September 25th, 1857 in Edgecombe Co. NC. William Alphonso's father was Benjamin Jordan Thigpen and his mother was Mary Francis Little. His paternal grandparents were Howell Thigpen and Mary Parker; his maternal grandparents were Frederick Dinkins Little and Harriett R. Knight. He had two brothers and two sisters, named Franklin Lafayett, James Howell, Sarah Elizabeth "Sally" and Susan Jane. He was the second youngest of the five children.-
