Franklin Lafayett was born on June 11th, 1846 in Edgecombe Co. NC. Franklin Lafayett's father was Benjamin Jordan Thigpen and his mother was Mary Francis Little. His paternal grandparents were Howell Thigpen and Mary Parker; his maternal grandparents were Frederick Dinkins Little and Harriett R. Knight. He had two brothers and two sisters, named James Howell, William Alphonso, Sarah Elizabeth "Sally" and Susan Jane. He was the oldest of the five children. He died at the age of 68 on October 1st, 1914 in Edgecombe Co. NC.General Notes
