Sarah Elizabeth "Sally" was born on April 25th, 1850 in Edgecombe Co. NC. Sarah Elizabeth "Sally"'s father was Benjamin Jordan Thigpen and her mother was Mary Francis Little. Her paternal grandparents were Howell Thigpen and Mary Parker; her maternal grandparents were Frederick Dinkins Little and Harriett R. Knight. She had three brothers and a sister, named Franklin Lafayett, James Howell, William Alphonso and Susan Jane. She was the second oldest of the five children.-
