Charles was born in 1794 in Elbert / Wilkes County, GA. Charles' father was David Bird Hudson and his mother was Mary Cobbs Booker. His paternal grandparents were Charles Hudson and Susannah "Susan" Patrick; his maternal grandparents were William Booker and Edith Unknown. He had five brothers and three sisters, named Booker, William, George, David B. Hudson, Madison, Mary Margaret "Polly", Martha P. and Louisa Edith. He was the third oldest of the nine children.-
