Penelope was born about 1770 in Edgecombe Co. NC. Penelope's father was Aaron Hargrove and her mother was Unity Proctor. Her paternal grandparents were John Hargrove and Judith Burwell; her maternal grandparents were John Gray Proctor and Mary Bennet. She had two brothers and seven sisters, named Ethelred "Dred", John, Anna "Nancy", Sarah Elizabeth "Sally", Charity, Nancy, Inda Judith "Judah", Delilah and Patience. She died about 1832 in Edgecombe Co. NC.-
