Gruffydd De La Pole Ap was born about 1200.1 Gruffydd De La Pole Ap's father was Gwenwynwyn Ap Owain Prince Of Lower Powys and his mother was Margaret Verch RHYS. His paternal grandparents were Owain Cyfeiliog Ap Gruffydd and Gwerful Verch Gwrgeneu; his maternal grandparents were Rhys Ap Gruffydd Prince Of Deheubarth and Gwenllian Verch Madog. He had a brother and a sister, named Madog Ap and Jane Verch Gwenwynwyn. He was the second oldest of the three children. He died in 1291.1 General Notes

in 1242. He died in 1291. Powicke calls her "...a great lady of
Shropshire, the widow of the still greater lord of Powys..." Her dower
rights were the subject of a landmark case in 1292 regarding possible
infringement of the Magna Charta and the case is cited in studies of
the Magna Charta.
