Gwenwynwyn Ap was born about 1165.1 Gwenwynwyn Ap's father was Owain Cyfeiliog Ap Gruffydd and his mother was Gwerful Verch Gwrgeneu. His paternal grandfather was Gruffydd Ap Maredudd; his maternal grandparents were Gwrgeneu Ap Hywel and Margred Verch Rhys. He was an only child. He died in 1216.1 General Notes
