Gruffudd ap Rhys Prince of Deheubarth 
Gruffudd was born about 1081 in Dynevor,CARM,Wales.1 Gruffudd's father was Rhys ap Tewdwr King of Deheubarth and his mother was Gwladus verch Rhiwallon. His paternal grandparents were Tewdur "Mawr" ap Cadell and Gwenllian verch Gwyn; his maternal grandfather was Prince Rhiwallon ap Cynfyn of Powys. He had a brother and two sisters, named of S Wales, Nest Verch and Margred. He had a half-brother and a half-sister, named Geraldus Fitzwalter De and Margred Verch. He died in 1137.2 General Notes

territory and laid claims to more. After a successful battle in 1136 he

Gruffydd (Griffith) ap Rhys, King of Wales, 1135.
"Returned from exile in Ireland to fight the Normans in 1113. Married
Gwenillian, daughter of Griffith ap Cynan, King of Gwynedd, in 1116. She was
killed leading her husband's army in an attack on the Norman castle at Kidwell
in 1136. The spot where she fell is named Maes Gwenillian in her honor.
Griffith continued the rebellion against the Normans. Their sons were
Meredith, Morgan, and Rhys." [Source 1]
