William Houston, Jr. was born in June 1884 in Coosa Co., AL.1 William Houston, Jr.'s father was William Houston Thomas and his mother was Martha Ella Smith. His paternal grandparents were William Horton Thomas and Martha Frances Ford; his maternal grandparents were John Alexander, Sr. Smith and Nancy Logan. He had three brothers and five sisters, named Arthur Patrick, John Sebron, Arron Bartley, Mary Etta, Nancy Scottie, Anette, Clara and Martha Ester. He was the third oldest of the nine children. He was a member of the Huffman Baptist Church in Birmingham, Alabama,
where he was a life deacon. Though he was a native of Coosa County,
Alabama, he lived most of his life in Birmingham, Alabama. He was in the
real estate business in Birmingham, Alabama for more than 40-years when
he retired in 1955. He was a former member of the Birmingham Board of
Realtors. He was a member of the East Lake Senior Citizens Club in
Birmingham, Alabama. His funeral service was conducted at 2:00 P.M.
Friday, from Roebuck Chapel in Birmingham with burial in the Forest Hill
Cemetery in Birmingham, Alabama. His last known address was at 1031 Gene
Reed Road in Birmingham, Alabama.
