927. Thomas William 20 AL farmer 500

(William Thomas married Martha Ford 1 Apr 1849 Bk. B p.46)
Buried somewhere in Georgia. He died after being wounded in the Civil War
and while trying to make it back home to Coosa Co., AL. He contracted
measles which along with his wounds, caused his death. His
brother-in-law, Stokely D. Massengale, after learning of his wounds went
to Georgia to he him, but learned once he arrived that William had
already died and been buried. I have not been able to locate his grave
site as of yet. He and Martha were married by James M. Butler, Minister
of Gospel, Coosa County, Alabama. According to the Coosa County Probate
Minutes, Book 7. #343, dated 11 August 1862 reads: "Estate of Wm. H.
Thomas, Patrick McKinney made admin.., widow declining bond for $10,000
with E. W. Baker, appraisers: Rueuben A. & John Mitchell & Wm. Selman."
