The Russell family came to Craven Co., SC mid 1770's and consisted of
James, Michael, William and Stephen Russell. The are they lived in
subsequently was identified as Cheraws in which they were listed in the
1790 census. It subsquently became Darlington Co. There are deeds for
them associated with Craven Co., SC. The Spradley family came from
Goochland Co.,VA to the Craven Co., SC area which subsequently became
Kershaw. Andew Spradley and sons Bryant, Charles and Andrew were the
early settlers. The Paynes appear to have been in the Frederishcborough
area from 1750's. There are a John and George Payne listed in th 1790
census for Kershaw. One of them appears to be the father of my Frances
Payne, b. abt. 1794 who married Bryant Spradley, b. abt. 1792, about 1814
all in Kershaw. I am interested in the families of George and John Payne.
The Spradleys, including Frances left Kershaw about 1830's for Montgomery
and Lowdnes Co., AL. Would appreciate any information about those
familes. James Buckley.
