John M. was born in 1826 in AL.1 John M.'s father was Simon Russell and his mother was Nancy Love. His paternal grandparents were Michael Russell and Martha (?). He had four brothers and a sister, named William James, Isaiah, Samuel Tines, J. Thomas and Martha Simon. He was the third oldest of the six children. He died about 1866 in AL.1 General Notes
