Tuppie Leroy was born on February 23rd, 1919 in FL.1 Tuppie Leroy's father was Tup P. Rushing and his mother was Maryann Savannah Floyd. His paternal grandparents were Thomas William Rushing and Melissa King. He had five brothers and four sisters, named Ruby Green Patty, Quinnie Wilmer, Willard Otis, Bascom, Obie Howard, Berlie Mae, Pearlie Lee, Evie Merle and Living. Tuppie was drafted into the U. S. Army 24 February 1943, the day after
his 24th birthday. He served in the Army until receiving an honorable
discharge as a Cpl. 10 Jan 1946. He was in the infantry during World War
II in Manilla, Philippine Islands. His unit landed there the morning
after the first invasion. His medals include: World War II 1945, Good
Conduct Medal, Combat Infantry Badge, MKM Rifle, Philippine Liberation,
CIR 136 WD45 w/star, APTO Medal, World War II Victory Medal. Tuppie's
three sons followed his military preference. Each served in the U. S.
Army with two of them in the Viet Nam War.
