General Notes
[coosa1.ged] Her father was Thomas King. Hi! I have been trying to locate Melissa King Rushing's parents. Where was she born in Ala.? Is Crenshaw Co. a possibility since that is where Baron DeKalb's family was on the 1870 census. Thomas William and Melissa King married in 1872 and went to Texas until 1874. They returned to Walton Co. Fla. ( I suppose you know the family story as to why they went to Texas. If not, I will share it with you...) My father has this huge portrait of Melissa and her parents. It use to hang over my grandparent's (Murdock Napolian Rushing and Lena Lenore Stewart Rushing) bed. I had smaller pictures made for me. My father is 82 yrs. old . He has always asked me about Melissa. She has been my mystery woman for yrs. About 2 days ago I came across a listing of Melissa King b. 1855 in Ala. on My Tree-a division of Ancestry. I do not belong to Ancestry. Do you? I would be grateful if you could check that out for me or give me a lead on her. I did contact a lady online who works on genealogy in that county. The Rushing's were there, but no King's she said...I met a guy in Covington Co. online. He has relatives who went to Faulkner with me and he knows church people I know. He writes for the Andalusia paper-a genealogy column. If you need anything on that county, he could probably help you out. He is one of 4 people who worked on their Heritage book. It is coming out soon. I would like Daddy to know about the King's since he always asks me about them. Let me hear from you! Cousin Frances wfpodein@@bellsouth.net P.S. Did you get my last message recently? Some of my messages may not be getting through. I may have to take my computer to the shop... I have been sick off and on since Dec. At least the warm weather helps...Take care...
