Hi! Murdock Napolian Rushing was born 6 November, 1882 in Walton Co. Fla.
His parents lived on Knox Hill. He and grandmother did too. I suppose he
was born there. They did move from the country to DeFuniak Springs. They
lived two doors from my parents. My Uncle Vess(another of their sons) and
Aunt Lulie lived inbetween us. Grandpa died 19 August, 1965. I was home
from college. I remember he had a stroke. I went to see him in the
hospital. Another stroke took him away. Lena Lenore Stewart Rushing was
born 3 September, 1885 in Pike Co., Ala.(She is the one with the royal
Stewart's, the tribe of Judah and Scota, daughter of the pharoah who
chased Moses into the Red Sea in her lineage.) She died in Chattahoochee,
Fla. in the mental institution. She was on welfare and that was the only
place she could go for a nursing home then. She was not crazy. She would
sleep during the day and ride her wheel chair on the road in front of
Uncle Louie's and Aunt Eloise's house at night. They worked during the
day. She died and the institution sent notification. It was put on the
side door. If their married daughter had not come in the side door, the
state would have buried her in Chattahoochee. Both grandparents are
buried in Euchee Valley Presbyterian Church below Argyle, Fla. which is
about 10 mi. east of DeFuniak Springs. Grandma  died 27 February, 1971.
She was Baptist. Grandpa was nothing. Baron DeKalb Rushing and Serena(the
Creek Indian-Wind Clan-the royal clan) are buried there. The M. Rushings
are on the northside where my Day's and Lowe's are buried. The B.
Rushings are on the south near Uncle Murdock, their first child. I have
the whole cemetary and map in a booklet I bought from William
Steadley-Campbell. The Scottish people came in their at the beginning  of
the county from N.C. Some of the oldest graves in there said they were
born in the Isle of Sky-Scotland. Harold Gillis, the county historian,
lived on Knox Hill too. One of his sisters taught us the county history
in the 4th grade. Harold and William S. Campbell were uncle and nephew. I
use to go see him when I wanted to know anything. He was a retired banker
and he lived near the circle around the lake in the center of town.I talk
to Campbell since Harold died. Harold's nephew was Clayton Metcalf who
was the editor of the Pea River Historical Society in Enterprise, Ala. He
shared some Rushing stuff with me once. He use to come visit the Gillis
relatives on Knox Hill. Daddy use to play with him. I tried to contact
him this summer. He had died. His wife invited me to see her if I was in
Enterprise. The cemetary above is probably about a couple of miles to the
30 acres of Day land I inherited. My brother has 30 also. Knox Hill is
about 5 mi. from there. I hope this answers your questions. Tell me more

He was a farmer and also a Justice of Peace.  Murdock and Lena had four
sons to serve in the World War II.  Harley, Lee Roy and Louie were in the
Navy, and Ralph Rufus in the Army
