Hortense was born in 1874 in ?.1 Hortense's father was Joseph T. Rushing and her mother was Mary Elizabeth Wells. Her paternal grandparents were William Cain Rushing and Mary Ann Rushing. She had three brothers and six sisters, named Willie, Jimmie L., Clayton, Dora Ida, Blanch, Bulah, Kahnie, Jewel and Lillie. She was the fourth oldest of the ten children. She died in ?.1 -
