John Shelby was born on October 10th, 1890 in Limestone Co., TX.1 John Shelby's father was William McDonald Moody and his mother was Melissa Wayland. His paternal grandparents were Theophilus Moody and Mary Jane Rushing. He had nine brothers and three sisters, named Ollie James, William Duard, Denman Dee, Tee Lee, Clarence Howard, Wayland Pelton, Virgil B., Dwight Lyman, Willard McDonald, Emma Ruth, Lydia Jane and Amarena. He was the fourth oldest of the thirteen children. He died at the age of 78 on December 7th, 1968.1 General Notes
