Martha Jane Grimes 
Martha Jane was born in 1828 in North Carolina.1 Martha Jane's father was John Grimes and her mother was Catharine Frederick. Her paternal grandparents were James Grimes and Sarah Winders. She had four brothers and five sisters, named James Haywood, John William, Felix Kenan, Robert Franklin, Hepsabeth, Anne Elizabeth, Mary Catharine, Sarah Evalina and Angeline. She was the fourth youngest of the ten children.
