Alton Herman was born on November 20th, 1919 in Milligan, Okaloosa County, Florida.1 Alton Herman's father was Joel Marlin Gordon and his mother was Mary Nancy Garrett. His maternal grandparents were William Thorton Garrett and Sarah Elizabeth Bush. He had a brother and four sisters, named Billy Gean, Dessie Ree, Euline, May and Norma Faye. He was the third oldest of the six children. He died at the age of 1 on May 1st, 1921 in Milligan, Okaloosa County, Florida. He was buried in Antioch Cemetery, Okaloosa, Florida.1 1 -
