Carlie Mahalie was born on October 2nd, 1895.1 Carlie Mahalie's father was Thomas Jefferson Garrett and her mother was Martha Addsline Henderson. Her paternal grandparents were William Walter Garrett and Nancy Sansom; her maternal grandparents were William E. Henderson and Mary Jane Wilkinson. She had ten brothers and three sisters, named James W., Jeremiah Thomas, John M., Malcom B., Eli Richard, Daniel J., Alford Matthew, Hiram Wiley, Jefferson Monroe, Reuben Ell, Mary Elizabeth, Martha Jane and Francis Adline. She was the second youngest of the fourteen children. She died at the age of 90 on August 19th, 1986. She was buried in Pensacola, Escambia County, Florida.1 1 -
