James COE 
James was born about 1823 in Ohio.1 James' father was Hezekiah COE and his mother was Barbara NEAR. His paternal grandparents were Elijah COE and Ann SMALLWOOD; his maternal grandparents were PHILIP NEER and ELIZABETH (Mary) POTTS. He had three brothers and three sisters, named John, Philip, Johnathan C., Elizabeth, Nancy and Ann. He was the third youngest of the seven children.
