Rabon Cottrell was born in 1868.1 Rabon Cottrell's father was Joseph Carson Avent and his mother was Mary Elizabeth Douglas. His paternal grandparents were William B. Avent and Ester Watts Olegg; his maternal grandparents were Silas Douglas and Mary Harrington. He had a brother and five sisters, named David Carson, Anne Elizabeth, Mattie Easter, Mary Watts, Hattie B. and Josephine. He was the third youngest of the seven children.-
