Mary Watts was born in 1866.1 Mary Watts' father was Joseph Carson Avent and her mother was Mary Elizabeth Douglas. Her paternal grandparents were William B. Avent and Ester Watts Olegg; her maternal grandparents were Silas Douglas and Mary Harrington. She had two brothers and four sisters, named David Carson, Rabon Cottrell, Anne Elizabeth, Mattie Easter, Hattie B. and Josephine. She was the fourth oldest of the seven children.-
