ROBERT (DE SCALES), LORD SCALES son and heir, aged 13 and more 20 March 1324/5. To have seisin of his lands 13 December 1332, the King having taken his homage though not of full age; 26 July 1333, to have lands which Isabel, late wife of his grandfather, had held in dower; 1333, pardoned the balance unpaid of a recognizance to Hugh le Despenser junior, obtained by duress: 1335, licensed to settle the manor of Newsells on himself, his wife and their heirs: 1336, licensed to alienate in mortmain to the priory of St. Leonard's, Stratford, the advowson of the church of St. Mary, Rivenhall, in exchange for the manor of Haslingfield, Cambs; 1337, going beyond sea on King's service; 1340, to sea with 40 men in the King's company for the defence of the realm; summoned to Parliament 25 February 1341/2 to 6 April 1369; 1342, licensed to divert a way beneath his dwelling place at Middleton; 1344, licensed to alienate in mortmain to aldermen and brethren of the fraternity of the gild of the Assumption of St. Mary, Haslingfield, land in Haslingfield. In 1346 he served in the 1st division at CrÈcy; 1348, licensed to alienate in mortmain to priory at Blackborough the advowson of the church at Islington; 1360 and 1362, in commissions, cos. Cambs and Norfolk.
He married before 6 May 1335, Catherine, sister and coheir of William, 2nd EARL OF SUFFOLK, daughter of Robert (DE UFFORD), 1st EARL OF SUFFOLK, by Margaret, sister of Sir John DE NORWICH, daughter of Walter DE NORWICH [1st LORD NORWICH], to whose grandson, John [2nd LORD NORWICH] her issue ultimately became heirs.
