Roger de was born before 1173 in Worlington, Mildenhall, Suffolk, England. Roger de's father was Robert de Scales , of Middleton and his mother was Alice. His paternal grandparents were Roger de Scales , of Middleton and Muriel de Lisewis. He was an only child. He died before June 25th, 1215.General Notes
ROGER DE SCALES II, son and heir, occurs as a party to proceedings for land in Cotes, Leicester 1194-95; in Herst (Hartest), Suffolk, 1203; as a knight, Norfolk 1203; as holding a fee in Benstead, Essex, 1203; as deft. in a plea of toll, Norfolk, 1204; vouched to warrant the title of the prioress of Blackborough to the church of Sandon, Essex, 1205; querent in a suit for damage to and detention of cattle, Norfolk, 1214.
He married, 1stly, Margery, daughter and one of the coheirs of Fulk DE BEAUFOU; 2ndly, Maud, who survived him and married, 2ndly, William DE BEAUCHAMP. He died before 25 June 1215. [Complete Peerage XI:498, (transcribed by Dave Utzinger)]
