Joan de was born in Ludlow Castle, Shropshire, England.  Joan de's father was Piers de Geneville , of Trim & Ludlow, Sir and her mother was Jeanne de Lusignan.  Her paternal grandparents were Geoffrey 1st Baron de Geneville , of Trim and Maud (Matilda) de Lacy; her maternal grandparents were Hugh XII de Lusignan , Count Angouleme\La March and Jeanne de Fougeres.  She was an only child.  She died on October 19th, 1356.

‌Joan de and Roger de were married in a religious ceremony before October 6th, 1306.  They had a son and seven daughters, named Edmund de, Maud de, Margaret de, Agnes de, Joan de, Katherine de, Blanche de and Beatrice de.
