John FitzAlan , 1st Baron of Arundel, Sir 
John was born after 1347 in Betchworth, Surrey, England. John's father was Richard II "Copped Hat" FitzAlan , Earl Arundel and his mother was Eleanor Plantagenet. His paternal grandparents were Edmund FitzAlan , 9th Earl of Arundel and Alice de Warenne; his maternal grandparents were Henry Plantagenet , 3rd Earl of Lancaster, MP and Maud de Chaworth. He had a brother and two sisters, named Richard III, Joan and Alice. He was the second youngest of the four children. He had two half-brothers named Edmund and Henry 3rd Baron de. He died on December 15th, 1379 in At sea between Ireland & England. He was buried in Lewes Priory, Sussex, England.General Notes
John d'Arundel, 1st Lord (Baron) Arundel, as which called to Parliament by writ 4 Aug 1377, probably as a result of his marriage (in which case it may be held to be identical with the Barony of Mautravers); Marshal of Englans 1377 and 1378; commanded a naval force which won a victory over the French off Cornwall; married 17 Feb 1358/9 Eleanor, Baroness Mautravers in her own right (married 2nd c9 Sep 1384 2nd Lord (Baron) Cobham (of Sterborough) and died 10 Jan 1404/5), younger daughter of Sir John Mautravers and granddaughter of 1st Lord (Baron) Mautravers, and was lost at sea between Ireland and England 15 or 16 Dec 1379.
