Pain, one of the Barons Marches, became surety for Isabel de Mortimer that she should come to the king's exchequer on the octave of St. Michael to satisfy for such debts as she owed to the late King John. Pain married Gundred, daughter and heiress of William deila Ferte, heir to Margaret, 2nd daughter of William de Brewere, a great feudal lord, who died in 1226. With her he had Bridgewater in Somerset, and had a son, Patrick.
