William De Ferrers VII Earl of was born in 1196 in Groby, Derbyshire, England.  William De Ferrers VII Earl of's father was William De Ferrers VI Earl of Derby and his mother was Agnes De Keveliock Lady of Chartley.  His paternal grandparents were William Ferrers V Earl of Derby and Sybil De Braose; his maternal grandparents were Hugh de Keveliock V Earl of Chester and Bertrade De Montfort D'Evreux. He had two half-brothers and four half-sisters, named Hugh, Thomas De Ferrers Baron of, Ivette, Pernel, Sibyl and Elizabeth.
