George Thompson 
George was born in 1786 in Russell County, Virginia. George's father was Richard Thompson and his mother was Mildred Short. His paternal grandparents were John Thompson and Mary; his maternal grandparents were Thomas Short and Nancy. He had six brothers and four sisters, named John, Richard A., Samuel, William, Andrew, James, Isabelle, Rebecca, Nancy and Margaret. He was the fifth youngest of the eleven children.-
