Virgil R. Bowden 
Virgil R. was born in 1877 in Pope County, AR.1 Virgil R.'s father was Charles Layfette Bowden. His paternal grandfather was John S. Bowden. He had nine brothers and two sisters, named John S., George Allen, Bill, Clifford H., Emory, Raymond, Frank Olen, Otis, Son, Ardena Elizabeth and Minnie May. He was the fifth oldest of the twelve children. He died at the age of 82 in 1959.1
