  Doniphan Co. KS marriage records has Josephene E. Powell
  age 32 married Martin Flinn/Finn age 45 Sept 22 1887.
  Elijah must have died.
  
  Here's an obituary for Elijah Powell, son of John Powell:
  
  In Memoriam: At the regular meeting of Highland Lodge #67,
  I.O.O.F. held in their hall on Saturday, May 3rd, 188(?)
  the following resolutions were passed:- died - at Colony,
  Anderson Caunty (sic), KS, on Saturday April 26th 1884 of
  Typhoid-malarial fever, Brother Elijah T. POWELL, aged 34
  years, 7 months, and 11 days.  (Alma Launder wrote in
  "father of the Laidge Powell we knew." )
  
  The officers and members of Highland Lodge #67, I.O.O.F.:
  We, your committee appointed by resolutions would
  respectfully submit the following preamble and resolutions,
  upon the death of our late Brother, Elijah T. Powell:
  Whereas it has pleased the Great Author of our Being to
  remove by death our beloved Brother from the cares and
  troubles of this life to a state of existance in that
  "house not made with hands"; therefore,
  
  Resolved, that while we, as mortals, with few dimmed eyes
  and sorrowful heart this evidence of our mortality, and
  this sudden severance of Earthly ties and associations, we
  rejoice that the same Almighty Being will awaken our
  brother from his death sleep, and give unto him that
  blessed and complete life that has no second death, but
  will be crowned with perennial joy in the Great Beyond.
  
  Resolved, that in the death of Brother Powell, society has
  lost an honest, upright, and valuable <something
  something>der a consistent Odd Fellow, his church a true
  member, and his family circle an affectionate, cherished,
  and fond husband, father, brother, and son.
  
  Resolved, that we tender to the bereaved widow and other
  relatives of our deceased Brother our tenderest sympathies
  and may He who "tempers the wind to the shorn lamb" give to
  their hearts that consolation we cannot, and draw them near
  to himself, by the memory of their loved one, who is "not
  lost, but gone before."
  
  Resolved, that as a token of our Brotherly love and respect
  for our late Brother, the charter of our <lodge?> be draped
  in mourning, and the bretheren<....> usual badge of
  mourning for 30 days. <.......>
  
  These resolutions be spead upon <......> copy be presented
  to the widow of <deceased? brother?> under seal of our
  lodge, and <...> county papers, with request for <....rest
  missing....>.
  
  
  Obit: <.....missing...>during <...> brought his body back,
  buried it at the Martin Schoolhouse on Tuesday, April 29th.
  A large concourse of people gathered at the depot, on
  Monday, with the Odd Fellows, friends, and relatives,
  expecting the family and remains, but owing to a mistake
  made by the oeprator at Colony, we were misled as to the
  time; so we met on Tuesday, there being a large gathering,
  frinds, and relatives.  We bore the body to the
  schoolhouse, and there with friends, neighbors, and
  relatives, offered Heaven's great consolation to the wife,
  aged father, and friends.  We sang "Home of the Soul," the
  ast song he sang for us before he moved to Anderson County.
  The Odd Fellows took charge of the remains, and bore them
  to the graveyard, where we all took the last look at all
  that was mortal of " 'lige," as he was familiarly called,
  and the body was laid away by his bretheren of the
  Independent Order of Odd Fellows.  He leaves his old
  father, brothers and sisters, wife and children behind, but
  not without hope.
  
  "It is the hope, blissful hope,
     which Jesus' grace has given,  when all our days and
  years are past,
     we all may meet in Heaven."
